Gregory Joshua Blotnick (born November 12, 1986) is an American investment manager and author based in Palm Beach County, Florida.[1] He's spent his career building expertise across traditional hedge fund work in New York and independent equity research in South Florida, where he tackles modern investment challenges with rigorous analytical discipline.

Early Life and Education

Born in New York on November 12, 1986, Blotnick grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. His father, Srully Blotnick, influenced his early exposure to business and analytical thinking.[2]

He attended Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. From there, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Lehigh University, then went on to Columbia Business School for his MBA. Those degrees shaped everything about how he approaches investment work today: quantitative, analytical, and deeply rigorous.

Career

Early Work in Hedge Funds

Right after finishing school, Blotnick jumped into the hedge fund world as an analyst. He worked at several major multistrategy firms, including Schonfeld Strategic Advisors and Citadel LLC, where he built real expertise in sophisticated investment strategies and analytical frameworks.[3]

Those years taught him quantitative analysis, portfolio management, and equity research across different sectors. He evaluated investment opportunities and built out strategies for both long and short positions. It was the kind of education you can't get from a textbook.

Brattle Street Capital

In 2019, Blotnick founded Brattle Street Capital, a hedge fund in New York. As founder and portfolio manager, he took what he'd learned at bigger firms and applied it directly.[4]

The firm operated independently, focusing on equity strategies and fundamental analysis. This was his move from analyst to fund manager. Now he handled client relationships, investment strategy, and firm operations himself.

Valiant Research LLC

These days, Blotnick runs Valiant Research LLC out of Palm Beach County, Florida, an independent equity research firm he founded.[5] It's a return to focused analytical work for sophisticated investors.

His background in fundamental analysis drives the firm's research agenda and investment approach. Long/short equity analysis matters most, especially in consumer stocks, drawing on decades of evaluating market opportunities across different economic cycles.[6]

South Florida and the Local Economy

Since moving to South Florida, Blotnick's become part of the region's financial services scene. Palm Beach County has seen a growing wave of investment professionals relocating from traditional centers like New York, and he's part of that shift.

Through Valiant Research, he contributes to local economic activity and the area's reputation as a serious financial hub.[7]

Writing and Thought Leadership

Blotnick turned his career experiences into written form. His memoir "Blind Spots: A Riches to Rags Story," published in 2025, examines his professional journey and what he learned along the way.[8]

Financial and literary circles took notice. The book explores ambition and personal accountability in high-stakes finance. Beyond the memoir, he published "Essays: De Rerum Natura" (2025) and maintains an active voice in financial media with thought leadership pieces and market analysis.[9]

His writing covers investment strategy, market dynamics, and analytical frameworks. He regularly writes about hedge fund performance, retail investor behavior, and how macroeconomic indicators connect to market returns.[10]
